About the event
Discussion Topic for April Meeting: “Food = Health”
In a time when healthcare costs and care opportunities are more restrictive, individuals will need to practice self- care. Keeping ourselves healthy by eating good foods is a common theme and is supported with great information that we could use in promoting local foods and in reducing barriers to access. Laura Markowitz will offer some information from a recent “Healthy Food, Thriving Communities: Supporting Wellness through Food as Medicine” presentation through Transition Town Jericho, and we’ll discuss ways we can better promote our local farm-fresh foods as part of preventive health care and work on barriers to access.
Update on the new “Right to Food” Pod, and request for pod members to work with Grace Gray, Marj Wainwright and Dave Clift on this pilot food shelf project
