Underhill Town Meeting met in person on March 3rd, and the Food Hub information table was a sight to behold. Chantal O’Connor created a wonderful, automated slide show featuring photos of projects, farms and people. The table was an active stop and talk point for many residents. Sustaining local agriculture can come down to maintaining an interested work force. Two farmer-support ideas got some traction with the food hub members and will be researched over the next few months: getting youth and young adults interested and experienced in farming; and assisting with adult apprenticeships that would support farmers if they needed time off or leave for an emergency. For the fifth year in a row Tucker Andrews of The Farm Upstream has grown an extra row of squash on behalf of Transition Town Jericho. This year was another great harvest by volunteers from Transition Town Jericho and the Jericho-Underhill Food Hub. Here’s what was harvested and distributed for 2025.
